Siri, Alexa, and self-driving cars are instances of narrow AI, whereas humanoid robots or AI that are capable of performing any intellectual work that a human can are examples of general AI. The study and development of artificial intelligence are progressing quickly, and it has the power to transform a wide range of markets and facets of our daily life. However, it also brings up significant ethical and cultural issues. 

What AI cannot achieve

While Artificial Intelligence (AI) has advanced significantly in recent years, there are still certain things that it cannot achieve. Some examples include: 

Emotion and creativity: Machine learning is indeed not truly experience emotions or display creativity in the way that humans do. It can only simulate emotions and respond in pre-programmed ways.

 Common sense: AI lacks the ability to understand and reason about the world in the way that humans do. It cannot make judgments or decisions based on common sense or context.  

Intuition: Deep learning is just not rely on intuition and instinct as humans do. It can only make decisions based on the data and algorithms it has been provided with. 

Self-awareness: No, Automation seems to not possess consciousness or self-awareness, and it does not have a sense of self or the ability to reflect on its own existence. Empathy: AI doesn’t possess the ability to understand or share the feelings of others.

 Ethics: Chatbots might possess moral reasoning or a sense of ethics like humans do. It can follow rules, but can’t decide what is right or wrong in a given situation.  

Understanding human intentions: Intelligence is ignorant of human intentions or underlying motivations in a way that humans can. 

Innovation: Robots should also. come up with new ideas or generate new concepts as humans do. 

It’s important to keep in mind that AI is still in its infancy, and it’s expected that in the future, the capabilities of AI will continue to improve. However, these limitations highlight the importance of maintaining a human-centric approach and not relying solely on AI to make decisions or solve problems. 

How to limit our expectations from AI?

To limit our expectations from Artificial Intelligence (AI), it is important to keep in mind its limitations and to use it as a tool to augment human decision-making rather than replace it. Here are a few ways to limit our expectations from AI: 

Understand the limitations: Be aware of the things that AI cannot achieve, such as creativity, common sense, and understanding human intentions.  

Use AI in conjunction with human expertise: Use AI to assist human decision-making, rather than relying solely on AI to make decisions.

 Regularly monitor and evaluate the AI system: Regularly monitoring and evaluating the performance and potential impact of the AI system is crucial to ensure that it is functioning correctly and that any issues are addressed.  

Use diverse and unbiased data: Use diverse and unbiased data to train AI, to ensure that the AI system is not biased and that its decision-making is fair and accurate.  

Ensure transparency and Explain ability: Make sure that the AI system is transparent and that its decision-making process can be explained, so that any issues can be identified and addressed. 

Encourage Human-AI collaboration: AI should be seen as a tool to enhance human capabilities, rather than a replacement. Encourage the collaboration of AI and humans to achieve better results.

 Keep in mind the ethical and societal implications: Regularly evaluate the ethical and societal implications of AI and take steps to mitigate any negative impact.  

Continuously educate yourself: Keep yourself updated with the latest advancements in AI and its limitations to have a better understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the technology.

 By keeping these factors in mind, we can limit our expectations from AI and ensure that it is used in a responsible and beneficial way.
